Among the small number of practicing daguerreians, Mike Robinson's work stands out by the painstaking preparation and polish of his plates. This makes a marked difference in the clarity and contrast of the finished piece. Mike made this portrait of me on October 30, 2003 in Toronto, about 4:00PM in his north-light studio. The prominent solar flares that were going on at the time contributed to the wonderful success of the exposure, or so we reasoned. I was so glad about the result that I purchased it and made a case for it.
